3 AI SaaS Ideas To Launch During Recession for Solo Founders [2024]

You want to build a software company, but you don’t have an idea. I’ve got your back. In this article, I’ll share 3 software startup ideas with AI integrations that are easy to launch and can thrive during the global recession.

Since 2022, we’ve been in a recession. Businesses are closing, and investor money is scarce. But this is the perfect time to launch your profitable software, as competition is at its lowest.

Businesses now seek to get more clients, not just optimize production. So, I’ll share my top 3 SaaS ideas in the sales and marketing space with high potential during the recession.

SaaS Idea №1. Platform for Traffic Arbitrage

If you don’t know what traffic arbitrage is, it involves purchasing traffic and reselling it at a higher price.

During the global recession, businesses crave more clients, sales, and traffic. Only this month, in my agency, we received about 5 requests from traffic arbitrage agencies to build in-house software that will allow them to forward generated leads to buyers.

The main technical challenge here is to forward the collected lead and enrich it with extra metadata like age, location, interests, etc.

So, if you build a SaaS platform for those arbitrage agencies, let them invite their buyers and help them enrich the data with some technical AI know-how. In that case, I guarantee you’ll have a lot of work and monthly recurring revenue.

Any traffic experts here?

SaaS Idea №2. Client Success Manager

It’s easier to sell a $100 product to an existing client than to sell a $1 product to a new client.

During recession times, businesses focus heavily on maximizing their existing client accounts. At my agency, SoftFormance, we’ve been growing over the last two years, primarily due to our existing clients.

We achieve this by consistently engaging in specific actions with each client:

  • Double-checking our project deliveries
  • Conducting quarterly 1:1 meetings
  • Sending gifts and congratulations for business and personal events
  • And a few other things

Surprisingly, these are basic management activities, yet there’s no dedicated CRM that focuses specifically on Client Success Management.

We manage this through our regular CRM, which isn’t the best fit. If you can create effective software for Client Success Management and help our manager save time, we’d be your first client.

SaaS Idea №3: Email Inbox CRM

This is my top pick. If you launch it, I’ll have 20 clients for you. Straight away.

For those of you who don’t know, I mentor a few Saa S founders, and for those who are below their first 10-20 paying users, I recommend doing 1:1 Cold Outreach. For that, we’re manually sending tons of emails and using a simple tool called MailTrack to track open rates.

However, that tool is minima listic and not made specifically for SaaS businesses. If you can build a Google Chrome extension with Gmail web client integration, add a few cold outreach templates for SaaS owners, and create a nice analytics dashboard… Then, I can easily bring you 2 dozen paying users.

I’d build this SaaS idea with my team, but busy with another product right now!

Here are 3 AI Micro-SaaS ideas that meet all the criteria on my successful digital product checklist. If I were searching for new SaaS projects to start, the last one would be my choice. Want more ideas? Check out my other articles with my Top 3 Micro-SaaS Ideas.
